Overall, I would say my wardrobe refresh went well, though not exactly as expected.
In order to save money but to try to get the highest quality and best-fitting clothes, I first set out with my shopping list to the local outlet mall:
- collared shirts in neutral colors
- sleek trousers in neutral colors
- straight-leg blue jeans
- fitted sweaters
- striped sweater
- waist belts
- neutral blazers
I had success finding button-up shirts, belts, and jeans. The shirts were more expensive than I was hoping, but the belts were cheaper, so it evened out in the end.
I was able to find one neutral blazer but was disappointed in the quality of the rest of my options.

I had no luck whatsoever finding fitted sweaters, trousers that look good on my shape, or the striped sweater I had in mind.
Having had decent success in stores, I decided to take my list online next. I found the fitted sweaters in neutral colors.

I also decided that since I couldn’t find any flattering trousers in store, I likely wouldn’t find any by taking a chance with online shopping. I also have a few pair that I like, so I decided to pivot and replace sleek trousers with sleek midi-skirts.

Overall, I was able to make my wardrobe feel new without breaking the bank or ending up with disconnected pieces.
