You’re a few months in to your first year of law school, and you’re likely finding more an more opportunities to socialize with your classmates outside of school.
Commiserating with colleagues in a dimly lit bar over good food and cocktails is much-needed therapy (not to replace actual therapy, which you should seriously consider).
In my first year, I was so focused on blending in and looking the part of a serious law student that I often found myself looking hopelessly through my closet for something more casual and fun to wear for a night out with friends.
With some planning, you can accumulate pieces that transition well from day to night. Consider that while you’ll be out spending time with friends in casual places, you’re still around people who will see you in class on Monday morning, so you should still put some level of professionalism into what you wear out.
Don’t worry; you can easily do better than “jeans and cute top.” The trick is how you style the more significant pieces, like skirts and dresses, with different shoes, tops, and jackets.
