Perhaps one of the more difficult style questions to answer is what to do with your hair for a courtroom appearance.
You might have been told that you have to wear your hair up in court. But the more important aspect of how you style your hair is that it makes you feel powerful. You don’t necessarily have to limit yourself to a stuffy up-do.
So where do you start to find a style that gives you confidence?

First, figure out your face shape. Your hairstyle should compliment your face shape, and knowing what suits your shape best will make choosing your most powerful look simpler.
My face shape is mostly oblong, which explains why I don’t like how I look in high ponytails or high-volume up-dos. I could pull my hair back, but I wouldn’t feel as confident as I do with my hair down.
So, my best bet is to create volume at the sides of my face to balance out its length. Side parts can do wonders, as can center parts with volume on the side. A side or center part with one side pulled back or half-up style makes me feel most confident.
Once you figure out your face shape, you can find a myriad of guides on the best hairstyles for you. The key is to find the one that makes you feel most confident. Be sure to try out different styles ahead of your courtroom appearance.
You don’t have to limit yourself to a specific hairstyle to look professional. Find what works best for you.
